The task for the evening was to finish the spar lathe so that I can use it for making the spars round.

The starting point, an oversized hole and various construction lines.

This is how the wheels will be located.

And here is the lathe set up. Because the headstock has been removed which both centres the work piece and stops it from falling out of the chuck, the spar has been screwed and bolted to the chuck.

The wheels are also bolted, screwed and clamped where necessary.

And here it is running.

Good no?

But I'm not going to use it, even on the slowest speed the lathe is capable of, this is just too dangerous.

So I will just have to round the spars by hand.
