2017.03.10 - Day 3

The main aim of today was the fitting of the chainplates. This involved cutting new bolts to length to replace the acid etched old ones, mounting the chainplates, mounting the backing pads then putting on the washers and nuts along with some thread lock. Despite their only being eight bolts, four each side, the entire process took two hours to complete. it was a little easier than before as the boat now has interior lighting and a bunk base that allowed me to easily lie on my side and use both hands to apply the thread lock then put on the nut and tighten it. The other things that were done today were more varnishing and preparing the rudder stock for painting.

The hardware removed and the stock sanded.

Two chainplates fitted on the starboard side...

...and two on the port side.
